About the Pop-Up
North African Dance Workshop:
Tribal music and dance from Morocco. In this workshop, we will learn the principles of rituals, rhythms, movement elements, and Gnawa essence. We will experiment with playing “Sagat” (finger cymbals) and call-and-response singing in Hebrew and Moroccan.
Orly Portal Method Workshop:
A deep dive into the pelvis. A bath for the nervous system. Befriending the bliss of movement. The Orly Portal Method (also known as “Portal to the Pelvis”) is a revolutionary, groundbreaking physical practice developed over nearly three decades by dancer and choreographer Orly Portal. The method is rooted in ancient wisdom from various fields and cultures, ranging from Western dance and North African tribes to Sufi dance, the Feldenkrais method, and more.
Musical Theatre Workshop:
Have you always dreamed of dancing to the tunes of the greatest musical theatre shows, but didn’t know where to start? This is your chance. The workshop is specially tailored for beginners (or those looking to get back to the basics). It offers full exposure to the professional musical theatre world through step-by-step guidance, personal support, and a breakdown of movements and combinations that allows everyone to understand, practice, and succeed.
Gaga & Contemporary Dance Workshop:
Gaga offers participants a framework to connect to their bodies and imagination, experience sensations and emotions, improve flexibility, and enjoy the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, supportive environment.
Contemporary Dance – Based on modern dance and incorporating contemporary elements from around the world, with an emphasis on personal expression, movement through space, and working with contrasting qualities such as weight versus lightness, sharpness versus softness, and more.
