Information about the course:
African dance is a traditional dance in which the rhythm of the drums and the body pulsate together. In the course, we will learn the language from the basics and connect to the rhythm and movements, giving space to the groove within us by studying choreographies (sequences of movements) of rhythm and movement from the continent.
Shiri came to West African dance on the advice of a good friend and teacher of West African drumming. Since then, she has studied (and continues to study) with some of the best teachers in Israel, masters from Guinea and Senegal who came to Israel, as well as masters from Senegal, France and Mexico.
Deepening her knowledge of the Saber dance (a traditional dance from Senegal).
“West African dance reminds me of the joy of life, intuitiveness, harmony in body, mind and emotion, and most importantly, a place for self-expression, freedom, strength and softness all at once. The beauty of traditional dance is that it is intended for everyone. Whether you have danced other styles in the past or have never danced, it can be learned easily and simply.”
