and dance are expressed based on
improvisation and physical contact

characterized by improvisational
movement, while being in tune to the
physical powers that influence our
bodies and the bodies of those who dance
with us. The quality is characterized by
being in tune, working with weight
through the skeletal frame and simple
acrobatics while staying in physical
contact. In Itay’s contemporary dance
classes the focus is on developing
technical ability through continuous,
correct work, making use of momentum and
effective use of the skeletal frame in
order to decrease the burden on the
muscles. The work develops into an
energetic dance while focusing on
musical precision.

Rolling, sliding, rising and
ascending, falling, observing, playing
and stopping quietly. We will experience
an awareness of the movement within us,
and from there an awareness of the
body’s movement in space. By working
with images and awareness of sensations
we will enrich the experience of
movement. Paying attention to breathing
will give support to the dance and will
center it. We will observe how touch,
weight and intentions allow for
spontaneous dancing. Alone, in couples
or in a group we will open up our
willingness to react to every given
moment. We will enjoy moments of
surprise and disorientation, as well as
moments of fluency and control.
